AHM 5061 NYC&STL 2-8-4 Berkshire Locomotive #779

Produced for one year only in 1965, this magnificent AHM 5061 NYC&STL 2-8-4 Berkshire Locomotive #779 commemorates the last steam locomotive built by the Lima Locomotive Works. Perhaps most famous for their legendary two and three truck Shay logging locomotives, the Lima Works, with the innovation of the Berkshire in 1925, also pioneered "superpower steam" providing no loss of power at high speed. The original NYC&STL "Nickel Plate Road" Berkshire #779 survives to this day and is on display in Lima Park, Ohio.
