IHC M520 New Haven Class K1-b 2-6-0 Mogul Locomotive HO Scale

The first North American example of this type of locomotive was built for the Louisiana & Nashville Railroad in 1864. At the time it was the largest locomotive built and got its name from the Mohammedan Empire (India). 1866 and later versions of the 2-6-0 Mogul were the first locomotives to use the radially turning two-wheel front bogie truck.

With 226 built between 1900 and 1910 the 2-6-0 Mogul played an atypically critical role on the NYNH&H. This great IHCM520 2-6-0 #363 is representative of 135 Class K1-b Moguls built between 1900 and 1905 with Road Numbers 325-479.
