IHCM903 CB&Q Class B-1A 4-8-2 Mountain Locomotive #7015

"By the 1920's Burlington's long distance passenger trains needed heavier power. Lima delivered eight 4-8-2s nos, 7000-7007, in 1922 similar to in dimensions to those of the neighboring Rock Island and Union Pacific: 74" drivers, 27" x 30" cylinders, and total weight of 364,000 pounds. They had Rushton trailing trucks and eight-wheel tenders. The locomotives were designed to burn lignite and were assigned to Burlington's western lines. Baldwin built 13 more 4-8-2s, class B-1A in 1925. Six were equipped for burning bituminous coal and seven for lignite. They were built with Worthington BL feedwater heaters, except for 7011, which had an Elesco unit, and had Delta trailing trucks and 12-wheel tenders. In 1930 the Mountains gave way to 12 4-6-4s from Baldwin." (From "Guide to North American Steam Locomotives" compiled by George H. Drury.)
