If you've checked out the "Blog" section on this website you might have noticed a post titled "How to Re-Motor HO Scale Roundhouse Climax & Box Cab Locos". To whit, I have a great affinity for vintage Roundhouse Climax and Box Cab loco kits and in their modification and preservation. This being said when, in my travels, I happened on an equally vintage "Ye Olde Huff-N-Puff" 1050 Static Hommer Wood Climax Locomotive Kit I immediately snapped it up. One key word in the description of this great old kit is "Static" to which I say "Nay, Nay".
Having an equal affinity for the awesome Stanton Drives from Northwest Shortline, the "Ye Olde Huff-N-Puff" 1050 Static Hommer Wood Climax Locomotive Kit took up immediate residence on my bench for engineering, motorization and lighting design, paint and assembly. This process mimicked the design and build of the real world Climax logging locomotives many of which were one-of-a-kind and built on site from the parts and materials immediately on hand. My finished Hommer Climax is true to this tradition and features my own unique design and paint scheme. You will never see another like it.
A Note on our MRRHQ Custom Built Locomotives:
Building custom model locomotives is both a labor of love and a mission to offer unique working models to the Model Railroading public. This being said, if one were to compare my offer price to the component cost, any reasonable hourly labor rate and the build time required, It is neither a practical nor profitable endeavor. Hopefully, however, it is an appreciated one.
