This formidable Mantua 316-22 NYC J1C 4-6-4 Hudson Locomotive #5271 honors one of 205 J Series Hudsons built by Alco for the NYC and its' subsidiaries. There were five development stages of J Series Hudsons, J1A-J1E, built between February 1927 and June 1931. Of special interest is that, to distinguish its' Hudsons from those of it's subsidiaries, all NYC Hudsons had even road numbers with all others having odd road numbers. For those who collect, run or appreciate unique or unusual oddities of model railroading, this odd numbered NYC J1C Hudson certainly fits the bill.
